Transcendence: Unmasked with Purpose is a multidisciplinary art and storytelling project that reclaims identity through radical visibility. At its heart, this project gives transgender individuals the opportunity to be seen—fully, truthfully, and without apology.
We begin with a simple yet profound act: the casting of a face. From there, each participant transforms their mask into a self-portrait layered with truth, pain, joy, and power. These sculptures, paired with personal narratives, become part of a traveling installation and experimental film that speaks to the courage it takes to live authentically in a world that often demands silence.
Founded by queer artist Heather Estrada, Transcendence was born from lived experience and a deep connection to the trans community. It is a space where art becomes activism, vulnerability becomes strength, and faces once hidden become unforgettable.
We don’t just make art.
We make space.
We tell the stories they tried to erase—and we tell them beautifully.
